This four (4) hour course provides the student with the necessary training and certification required to carry a chemical agent (CN/CS/OC pepperspray) on duty.
This course involves reading, discussion, video, practical application and exam.
The student will be issued a lifetime chemical agent certification card upon successful completion of this course.

- Recognize and reduce the threat
- Determine how and when to use force
- Effects of OC spray
- Avoiding bad positions
- Disengagement
- Proper defensive positions
- Shielding
- Drawing techniques
- Methods of movement
- Defense against moving attacks
- Spraying techniques
- Using OC spray with light
- Ground defense
- Multiple opponent defense
- Proper weapon retention and disarming
- Cautions/Hazards
- Recovery/Decontamination
- Functioning when contaminated
- Storage/Maintenance
- Proper OC incident documentation.
Cost $45, includes lifetime certification card. Pepper spray available at additional cost. Civilian self-defense courses, which include pepper spray, are held monthly.
